Over the last 15 years reviewing and talking film I’ve scored some pretty good jobs, although I’m still trying to convince some family members “watching movies” is a legitimate career. My latest gig here on Rialto Channel’s fabulous new website, must be one of the best yet

As resident blogger, it’s my duty to watch and discuss the best line-up of independent films from New Zealand and around the world, and yes I am trying to contain a gleeful smile as I write this. I’ll also be bringing you entertainment news, interviews with directors and stars we feature, keeping you up to date with what’s happening at festivals around the world and, more than likely, commenting on a few disastrous red carpet outfits along the way.
Each week I’ll be highlighting some of my favourite picks, which considering just the August line-up will be a challenge. Rialto Official Selection kicks off with A Single Man, t
he stylist directorial debut by iconic fashion designer Tom Ford, and the series also features two New Zealand films premiering on television, the heartfelt The Insatiable Moon, and the heartbreaking After the Waterfall.
There’s also the charming Christopher & His Kind, the 2009 Festival de Cannes Grand Prix winner A Prophet and Robert Altman’s classic Kansas City - Just to name a few. Enjoy our new website, I’m looking forward to your company and your comments.
Cheers,
Francesca
