When Karim asks one of his French friends to investigate Natalie's past life in the city of Nice, on the Riviera, he makes some disturbing discoveries. Natalie is placed under house arrest. Her mother conducts an ancestral ceremony intended to ward off bad luck, but her father just wants to get her out of the country.
