The legendary Coen brothers (O' Brother, Where Art Thou?', 'The Big Lebowski', 'Fargo', 'The Hudsucker Proxy') wrote and directed this outstanding comedy that won Best Actor (John Tuturro), Best Director (Joel Coen) and Best Film at the Cannes Film Festival. The year is 1941, Barton Fink (Tuturro) is an intellectual writer who's need for work takes him to Hollywood where he must compromise his values to earn a living by writing a screenplay for a wrestling film. He takes up residence in the seedy Hotel Earle where he meets his neighbour, jovial insurance salesman Charlie Meadows (John Goodman). While Fink suffers from severe writers block he is also distracted from his task by a cast of disreputable characters played by a stellar cast including, Steve Buscemi, Judy Davis and Tony Shalhoub. Fink is spiralling toward tragedy in a Hollywood that isn't far removed from hell. 'Barton Fink' also received Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actor (Michael Lerner), Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design. Nominated for Best Casting by the Casting Society of America. Won Best Foreign Actor (John Turturro) at the David Di Donatello Awards. Nominated for Best Supporting Actor (John Goodman) at the Golden Globe Awards. Won Best Cinematography and Best Actor (Michael Lerner) at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards. Won Best Cinematography at the National Society of Film Critics Awards.
